You need to know these dates for Japan trip

Hi Hokkaido travelers,

Summer is over. That means... it’s time to plan your autumn/winter holidays, right?

I have a big winter trip planned. We are going to Japan and South Korea for 3 weeks (my husband is Korean and we live in Switzerland😉) This will be our baby boy’s first trip to our home countries - how exciting is that!

If you’re traveling to Japan in the coming months like me, here’s what you should know.

There are a few long weekends combined with national holidays and the New Year holidays, when many Japanese people travel within the country.

Popular tourist destinations get crowded.
Prices for hotels, domestic flights and car rentals go up.

If you want to enjoy your holiday with less crowds and less money, here are dates to avoid.

  • September 14-16
  • September 21-23
  • October 12-14
  • November 2-4
  • December 28 - January 5

Right after these dates is the sweet spot. People are back to work and you will see fewer people in touristy places.
